76th Annual Whitney Biennial – A New York Event

Established in 1932 as a bi-annual event for the recently opened Whitney Museum, the 76th annual Whitney Biennial began on March 1 this year and will continue until May 27. More than just another art exhibit, the Biennial presents the work of the top one hundred emerging American artists, including painters, sculptors, photographers, musicians, and internet graphic designers. You don’t have to be an art enthusiast to enjoy this event, but if you are and you’re in New York it’s a don’t-miss opportunity.

11th Annual Great Night in Harlem

On May 17th, your stay in New York City could include a trip to the venue where many of the greats in comedy and music have performed in the past. The Apollo Theatre in Harlem hosts an annual event called simply “Great Night in Harlem” to raise money for struggling jazz musicians in the United States. Organized with a sincere desire to preserve a precious piece of American musical culture, the passion put forth by the performers at this event is always a sight to behold. Quincy Jones, Roberta Flack, and the esteemed Bill Cosby have all put on memorable shows here. It’s being held this year on May 17th if you happen to be in town. The Apollo is located at 253 West 125th Street.
