Brew Review with a Hockey Twist: Mill Street Extra Special Bitter

Mill Street E.S.B. is a traditional English-style bitter ale made from Marris Otter Malt and Fuggles, as well as East Kent Goldings hops which are all imported from England. As far as bitter brews go this one is quite mild on the palate. It’s nowhere near as bitter as Jeremy Roenick was when he was snubbed from the 2006 USA Olympic team. It’s copper colour, moderate head, and mild malt aroma entice the drinker. It’s surprisingly light on your tongue and the hoppy taste doesn’t linger like Marc Savard’s concussion symptoms. Bitter beers tend to intimidate the casual beer drinker, but this beer fights like Brian McCabe so don’t be scared. Consider Mill Street E.S.B. to be the Winter Classic of bitter ales. It has mass appeal because it’s easy to consume. Those who are looking for a fuller, bolder taste may be left searching for more. Recommended for the entire game.
