Clean and Disinfect Your Remote Control

  • Comments 0

Did you know that one of the dirtiest things in your house is the remote control? That is because everybody touches it a lot of times every day, things get spilled over it, it accumulates dirt. Another problem is that we do not clean it until it gets really sticky and even then, we just wipe it off, without killing the bacteria. So, if you want to clean and disinfect your remote control, here is what you need to do:

There are ways to deep clean your remote control. But in order to do that you will need to take your remote control apart and clean every part of it. That might not be such a good idea because that way you might damage it or not be able to put it back together. So, unless you really need to deep clean it, Cleaners from Sydney recommend you just clean its surface and disinfect it.

No matter which cleaning you choose, before you start make sure you take out the batteries of your remote.

Now you will have to clean the area around the buttons. Use a cotton swab to do that. Dip it in some rubbing alcohol and gently clean all the crevices that are around the buttons. You probably will need more than one cotton swab. You can use a toothbrush to clean the seam between the two parts of the remote. But be careful, if any falls into the remote you will have to take your remote apart and clean it.

Now you will have to wipe clean the rest of the remote control. For that use a soft cloth. Dampen it with some rubbing alcohol. Then rub the surface of the remote. Make sure you wipe the top, the bottom and the sides. Use the same cloth and clean the battery compartment. Again dampen a cotton swab to clean all the places that the cloth could not reach.

When you are finished with that as well, professional from cleaning Toorak say it is time to put the batteries back in and you are ready to use your remote again.

There is no way to keep your remote clean. Unless you put it away and do not use it, your remote will get dirty so the only good solution is to clean it regularly, at least once a week. That way it will not build up dirt and it will be really easy to clean it.
