Sometimes after a long day at work or a stressful day, going to the gym can feel a little dreadful. It’s always the same routine with the same old workouts, right? I know this feeling all too well as it happens to most of us. But what if you can change things up and make your day at the gym more fun and exciting. Getting bored with the gym and your workout routines are the last things you want to happen and changing things up a little never hurts, especially if its going to keep you motivated and consistently hitting the gym. Here are a few things you can do to make your workouts more fun and exciting.

One big factor when working out at the gym is that we never get experience the outdoors. Besides winter, spring and summer days are a great way to take your workouts outside. This is a really great way to help change things up with your gym routines. You can take one day, one week or however long you would like to do your workouts outside. If it’s cardio your doing, try some tennis or basketball, its fun and ads more intensity to your cardio workout. Biking up the trails of a river or just around town is another excellent cardio workout as well. These really help keep your daily routines off balance and keeps your interested.

Charting your progress may not seem like a fun exciting way to change up your routine, but actually monitoring your progress as the days and weeks continue on is really motivating and exciting to see. Find yourself a log book and chart your progress! Keeping a log book is crucial for your overall success, but seeing how your hard work and effort is paying off is another priceless reward. Its an excellent way to see what you did on that given day/workout, what worked best, what showed results, what made you feel good and the list keeps going on. Start charting your progress as soon as you can!

I’m not sure if you have heard of this, but after a long hard week of hitting the gym, eating correctly, and sticking to your program it’s ok to have a cheat day. What’s a cheat day? This is the day when you can go out and eat anything you want for the entire day. Ice cream, cookies, pastries, cakes, sweets, you name it and you can have it. The reason for this is that we work so hard for 6 days trying to keep our body’s in great shape. The last thing we want to do is not reward ourselves for our hard work. Never deprive yourself completely, its the sure fire way to failing a workout program. Instead treat yourself once a week and you will be happy to continue on with your program.
