Most women in the world find that pregnancy is a very stressful time for them, and the stress can actually cause problems in their child if it gets out of control. It is important that you know how to help your wife deal with her stress, as you are currently the one with a rational mind that is not being bombarded by hormones and physical changes.
Regardless of where you used sperm storage banks or natural methods of pregnancy, the deed is done and now you are on your way to having a child. This is a happy time for all, but the truth is that there is still going to be stress in Paradise. Helping her to cope with her stress is important, as it will help to avoid problems with the little one.
Tips for Helping Her Handle Stress
If your wife is a powerhouse working woman who needs the pressure from her work, your job just got harder. No matter how active she is, she won’t be able to put up with a very stressful lifestyle and pregnancy for very long. If she keeps trying, she is risking your child, so it is important that you do what you can to help her handle the stress properly.
So what can you do?
Eliminate Stress – There are certain things in her life that are causing stress, such as trying to get to the gym before it closes or making it to work on time after a long weekend. If you can help her to eliminate the things in her life that are causing the stress, you will make the pregnancy much easier for the both of you. Sit her down and help her to take a look at her life, examining it for the stressful things that she can cut out. By doing so, she will be giving her body a break and helping it to run at 100%.
Reduce Stress – There are certain things that she just can’t eliminate, such as her work or any responsibilities that she is committed to. Some stressful things can’t be cut down, so your job now is to help her find ways to reduce the stress as much as possible. You can help her to change activities to ones that are less stressful, find ways to make things easier for her, and help her to realize that she needs to help herself and cut back on the stress in her life. This isn’t going to be an easy task, but it is a very important one that you need to do.
Take Care – She is no doubt already doing all kinds of things that will help her to stay healthy, such as eating right, taking her prenatal vitamins, and more. However, you need to be sure that she does all she can to take care of herself properly. Make sure she does exercise, that she sleeps enough at night, and that she doesn’t run herself ragged with work. If she gets sick, it could actually cause the fetus to get sick as well, and the baby won’t have an immune system that is as strong as hers.
Get Help – If you are in need of help, take the time to get it. Whether it is help in the form of counseling, therapy, relaxation, or education, it is important that you get help when you need it. Both of you are going through a huge change in your life, and thus you will need to do what you can to deal with the changes in the best way possible. You may not think that you need to attend counseling, but perhaps signing up for a baby care or pregnancy class may do you both good.
Be Positive – No doubt she is going to feel very frustrated, as she will have much less energy to do all the things she will want to do. If this is the case, you will have to help her to be positive and look on the bright side of things. She will be getting bigger and feel unattractive, and she will probably feel like her pregnancy is a huge annoyance. This is common, and it is your job to help her maintain a positive attitude.
You are the man responsible for the pregnancy, so it is important that you do what you can to help her through it. Managing stress is important, and you would do well to take your responsibilities seriously and help her cope with the pregnancy stress as much as possible.
