The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows foreign nationals from certain eligible countries to travel to the United States for business or pleasure, for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a US visa. This includes nationals of the following 36 countries, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Malta, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Since January 12, 2009, when the implementation of the online ESTA travel authorization became mandatory to enhance the security of the Visa Waiver Program, all international travelers who are seeking to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) are now subject to enhanced security requirements by submitting an online ESTA form.

ESTA to USA adds another layer of security that enables the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to determine, in advance of travel, whether an individual is eligible to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program and whether such travel poses a law enforcement or security risk.

Before you begin an online ESTA visa application, make sure that you have an internet browser that supports 128-bit encryption and a valid passport and credit card available. A valid passport is passport with a machine-readable zone which could either have a digital photograph printed on the passport data page or an electronic passport (e-passport) with an integrated digital chip containing biometric information about the passport owner.

You also need the following information to complete the application: your personal details, passport information (issuance date, issuing country, expiration date and passport number), travel information (carrier information, carrier name flight number or vessel name, and city where you are boarding), address while in the united states information (the number and street, city and state of the location where you will stay while in the United States.

You will also need your credit card billing information. The ESTA website will only accept the following credit cards: MasterCard, VISA, American Express, and Discover (JCB, Diners Club), though third-party websites may accept other card types.

Take note that before submitting your ESTA for USA application with the required payment information, you can update all application data fields except the passport number and passport issuing country.

However, once an application is completed and submitted with all the required payment information, you can only update any one of the following fields: e-mail address, telephone number, carrier information, city where you are boarding, and address while in the United States.

Once you’ve entered the required biographic, travel, and credit card information on the secure Web site, your application will then be processed by the system to determine if you are eligible to travel to the US under the VWP without a visa. Then an automated response will then be provided by the system to you, and prior to boarding, a carrier will electronically verify with the United States Customs and Border Protection that you have an approved travel authorization on file.
