Considered to be one of the most rewarding treks in the Himalayas, the Annapurna circuit trekking route will take you through the most breathtaking sceneries that you can see on the planet. You will see a host of mighty peaks, beautiful lakes, ice falls and the refreshing local culture of Nepal. This trek is a must have experience for every single person, whether you are an adventurer or not. Being one of the most beautiful places on the planet, the Annapurna sanctuary is a place that everyone must visit.
This trek can be classified as being moderately challenging. But the stress and physical strain that you will undertake will be a totally well spent effort, when you will actually witness the paradise that is the Annapurna sanctuary. The trek is about a 21 day walking journey, taking you to a height of approximately 5426 metres. This trek may be changed for those with restricted time or wishing to sample solely a region of their Nepal tour. There are options available for half Annapurna circuit trekking which includes the Tilicho lake at the foothill of Tichilo Mountain with a fly out from Manang.
The trek largely involves spending the nights in Nepalese tea houses rather than outside in tents. These are local lodges and very small hotels offering very cheap accommodation and local food to travelers. They are moderately comfortable with all the basic facilities like hot water, clean rooms etc. available. Spending nights in these tea houses, meeting the people and taking part in the local culture will be an altogether interesting experience in itself.
The hike itself involves various ascends and descends along various steep mountain paths. You will get plenty of opportunities to get acclimatized with the altitude changes. During the entire duration of the trek you will witness various peaks including the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Gangapurna and Tilicho Peak. But first the trekkers will have to complete the Annapurna base camp trek.
The Annapurna base camp is a highly glacial basin located to the north of the Pokhara. It gets its name from the local Hindu goddess which is worshipped by the local population of the region. For Annapurna base camp trekking there is only one route which goes through the deep gorges among the Machchapucchre and Hiunchuli. You can also include an added touch of adventure to the entire trekking experience. Opportunities are available for paragliding and white water rafting at Pokhara and traversing the Thorung la pass which is at a height of 5000m.
The trek will also get you to bear witness to some of the rarest sights in the world. You can explore the Kali Gandak valley- famed to be one of the deepest valleys in the world. It carves its way in amongst the Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna peaks, which are more than 8000 metres high. These are only a few of the reasons why Annapurna circuit trekking is considered to be the most rewarding, most adventurous and the most beautiful trek on the planet.
