Want To Write A Descriptive Essay Look At Your Favorite Novel

  • Comments 0

If you’ve ever been asked to read a descriptive essay, you have probably reacted like many of us normally do when we’re asked to do something we’ve never done before: that is, confusion. But a descriptive essay can be a lot of fun to write and is certainly no harder than any other type of essay be the research essay or even an argumentative point. That said, you may be wondering exactly how to start writing this particular style. Of course, the best way to start is to actually figure out what this type of essay actually is.
A descriptive essay focuses on the reader’s senses rather then his or her mind or heart. What this means is that you spend more time describing the touch, sound, smell, or look at various things within your essay to give the person the experience of being there. This is a very powerful form of writing and if you’ve ever read one of your favorite novels you know exactly what I’m talking about. Some the best writers out there use this technique to fully draw the reader into their world. When the reader close their eyes they can see what the writers describing they can taste what the writer is talking about and they can truly visualize the writers world that he has crafted within their minds. And this essentially is what a descriptive essay seeks to do.
Remember, the idea is to strike a balance between too much detail and not enough and that can be quite difficult especially if you’ve never written a descriptive essay before. One way to overcome this is to first give serious consideration to the kind of people that will be reading your essay. Of course, if it’s a creative writing class the main person or read it will be your Prof. However, your classmates can read your family could read and even some of your close friends as well. So the idea is that you want to make sure that you are writing for your audience and as such this will dictate the level of detail that will be present in your paper. As it is descriptive you need to ensure that you pull the reader senses along with you without overwhelming him or her. In a case like this, too much detail can actually be detrimental to the overall paper whereas writing to simply will not have the desired effect.
