Recently on Locked Up Abroad Season 6 Episode fifteen “Chilean Prison Break”, A California man is arrested within a drug deal in Chile and sentenced to five a long time in prison. He and a fellow prisoner choose escape and flee america on foot, which requires a dangerous journey through the desert.

On this week’s Event title “The Orchid Hunters”, Two British backpackers make an effort to cross from Panama to be able to Colombia via the notoriously threatening Dari?n Gap, but are captured and also held hostage by Colombian guerrillas.

Vacations don’t always live up to our lofty expectations, and for some they change into the worst nightmares imaginable. This National Geographic program targets on true stories of vacation goers in trouble in alternative countries.

LOCKED UP ABROAD explains to the stories of real-life tourists who get arrested in foreign lands and done in jail. Sometimes they’re innocent, as in one case in which a man was unknowingly traveling using a friend who was carrying drugs. But most of the “victims” find themselves behind bars because we were looking at doing something criminal, and viewers see your intense moments they commit in captivity, as well as their attempts to realize freedom.

Locked Up Abroad will have several things choosing it. The production values are generally good, and the stories are told within the voices of the people immediately involved, which gives viewers an affordable connection to the reviews. The re-enactments are eerily near to the original photography and video taken before imprisonment. And it’s certainly eyesight opening to witness this cruelty and miscarriage with
justice that occurs in many of these place.

But because there’s absolutely no mention of any intervention from anybody’s embassy, the whole thing smacks of sensationalism. And the show never mentions the many documented cases of
similar experiences happening to be able to foreign nationals here in the us. While teens may be interested to see what happens when you smuggle drugs in the place like Bangladesh (and yes it might even scare them out of ever trying anything similar!), they also need to comprehend that these experiences aren’t a complete picture of what life is similar to in a foreign country. Bottom line: It’s riveting TV, but it doesn’t give one of the best or most accurate picture of other cultures.

They do stories of people that have, well, gotten locked up to foreign countries. It’s almost always individuals who have done illegal things, and admit to that, though one guy obtained kidnapped by Colombian rebels I think. But usually it’s more than one people who are smuggling medicines, large amounts of funds, gold, or something similarly outlawed, into or out of any foreign country.

It’s really great pertaining to schadenfreude. It’s in a documentary fashion, the people involved doing voiceovers while you’ll find re-enactments or actual footage sometimes being shown. There is a massive amount “what was I imagining??? ” as people find yourself in a foreign pertaining to jail for months as well as years. Yikes!

My favorite so far is a two guys who were being caught smuggling drugs from Venezuela. Just watching the re-enactment as they went through customs, and got caught, and how the ‘definitely paid back you can trust us’ police weren’t really cleared. The prisons there was absolutely horrid, and what little photographs was available was unpleasant.
